Sexual Assault Trials, a two-volume book published by LexisNexis now in its second edition. He is also contributing author and editor to the
Manual for the Investigation and Prosecution of Child Abuse, National Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse and Neglect (1994), contributing author to the National College of District Attorney's
Analytical Trial Advocacy: A Practical Approach for Prosecutors (1996), and author of
Establishing Victim Credibility in Acquaintance Rape Cases, The Practical Prosecutioner (1998).
Prior to starting his own practice, DerOhannesian served as assistant district attorney to the Albany County District Attorney office's Special Assault Unit, overseeing the investigation and prosecution of all sexual assault, child abuse, domestic violence and child homicide cases.
DerOhannesian has taught extensively throughout his career with approximately 250 presentations. He has taught for the National College of District Attorneys in the areas of child homicide, child abuse, sexual assault and jury selection. In 1997, he received the Lecturer of Merit Award from the National College in recognition of his teaching. He also instructs regularly for the American Prosecutors Research Institute and National Center for Prosecution of Child Abuse and Neglect. Additionally, he has been a trainer for numerous state prosecuting attorneys' associations throughout the United States, and has provided training to federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Postal Service, and New York State Police.
DerOhannesian is admitted to practice in New York State courts, U.S. District Court, Northern District of New York, United States Court of Appeals Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
