Monique Adams v. Corr-Train, Inc. Case File

The plaintiff accused her former supervisor of sexual harassment and is now suing Corr-Train, Inc. for damages. There are three potential claims: hostile environment/sexual harassment, quid pro quo (her refusal to have sex resulted in a tangible job action), and unlawful retaliation for reporting sexual harassment. The case file was designed for courses in pretrial litigation, trial advocacy, evidence, and employment discrimination. There are six witnesses for the plaintiff and five for the defendant.

    • Andrea A. Curcio is a professor of law at Georgia State University's School of Law. Prior to joining the faculty in 1994, Curcio worked as a litigation attorney in North Carolina. In 2007, she received a Fulbright Scholar grant to teach in China and the following year was awarded Georgia State University's Teaching Effectiveness Award. Curcio teaches civil procedure, evidence and co-directs the Externship Program. She has published in the areas of tort reform (punitive damages), sexual violence and sexual harassment, and legal pedagogy and assessment. Currently, Curcio is a board member for the Society of American Law Teachers [SALT] and chairs SALT's Committee on Issues in Legal Education. She is also a member of the advisory board for Georgia State's Center for Teaching and Learning and is on the advisory board for the Center for Justice and Democracy, a non-profit organization devoted to providing the public with accurate information about tort reform issues. Professor Curcio also is a member of the American Bar Association's Special Committee on the Professional Education Continuum.

    • Deborah Young is a professor and director of the Center for Advocacy and Clinical Education at the Samford University Cumberland School of Law (cum laude), whose interests include criminal procedure, evidence and trial advocacy. She is considered an expert in federal rules of evidence; criminal procedure; criminal law, international criminal litigation, sentencing practices, rules of search and seizure and police investigative techniques and interrogations. Prior to joining the faculty at Cumberland, Professor Young taught at Emory University School of Law for seven years. Before that, she was an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia from 1983 to 1990, where she worked in Transnational and Major Crimes Section, prosecuting criminal cases of espionage, bribery, fraud, conspiracy, money laundering and narcotics violations.
