  • Increased paralegal hiring can help cut firms' costs...agree or disagree?

    Recent hiring trends show an increase in the number of paralegals retained by large law firms, as more and more firms recognize the value of their paralegals' contributions. Paralegals are increasingly being delegated assignments in conducting basic background research and preparing legal documents, even helping to train new associates. Do you agree or disagree that this is becoming an increasing trend at top firms?  Do you think that this is

  • Paralegal vs. Legal Assistant - which job title is preferred?
    The ABA categorizes legal assistant and paralegal into the same career bucket, stating their definition of a legal assistant/paralegal is as follows: “A legal assistant or paralegal is a person, qualified by education, training or work experience who is employed or retained by a lawyer, law office, corporation, governmental agency or other entity and who performs specifically delegated substantive legal work for which a lawyer is responsible.”
