Course Overview
The Redwood Advanced Reporting course is designed to educate the report writer on advanced functionality of the reporting tool to produce production ready reports via Redwood’s data warehouse or other databases. During the course users will learn how to create reports using Query Builder, use SQL statements to create and edit queries in addition to using Visual Basic expressions in Report Builder. This one day course is delivered by an instructor in a “group-live” environment.

Course Outline
Module 1: Queries and Parameters
- Write and edit queries with Query Builder
- Create joins between tables
- Write and edit your own queries
- Understand and utilize multiple types of parameters
- Build and utilize cascading parameters
- Manage, save, and reuse previously built parameters from the Parameter Library
Module 2: Advanced Report Builder
- Build a report from a query
- Apply conditional formatting to a cell or row
- Understand and utilize the Visibility Property for cells, rows, or tables
- Understand the difference between group header and detail rows
- Utilize hard-coded parameters within a report
- Format and edit report headers and footers
- Understand and use the common Visual Basic expressions used in Report Builder
Module 3: Report Scope and Build
- Review the approach to report requests
- Understand data sources and how to access
- Conceptual understanding of whether a reporting is the solution or Cubes
- Business needs for a report
- Include calculations and where those calculations need to be made
- Page layout and Formatting
- Case Study: Design a report
