Extreme Makeover: Home Edition

In the Spring of 2011, nine-year-old Anaiah Rucker performed an act of bravery and heroism that could have only come from the bond shared between sisters. While the two were walking to school together, her little sister Camry was caught in the path of an oncoming truck. Acting on instinct, Anaiah pushed her sister out of the way, instead, placing herself in harms way. And although Camry made it out unscathed, Anaiah was not so lucky. As a result, she lost her leg and kidney.

After recovery, the family found that everyday tasks became more and more difficult. In partnership with the ABC show “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”, employees from LexisNexis loaded up a bus and traveled 140 miles to a construction site in Madison, GA to aide in the construction of a new, handicap accessible home. Volunteers worked tiring hours in 100+ degree heat, but pushed through the exhaustion and with the help of the community, were able to complete the house on time for the family to move into.

“I am just so thankful to LexisNexis Risk Solutions for providing our group with such a major opportunity to help a wonderful cause. We had a blast and truly helped a child in need. It doesn’t get any better than that.” – Danielle Lee, Records Coordinator, CPU Division.
