LexisNexis® Windward Challenge 5K Race to Benefit March of Dimes Georgia Chapter 6/16/2009

Alpharetta, GA – LexisNexis Risk & Information Analytics Group today announced it will host the tenth annual Windward Challenge charity 5K run/walk in Alpharetta, Georgia on Wednesday, September 9, at 6:30 p.m.. The registration form is now available online at www.lexisnexis.com/windwardchallenge.

"The proceeds of this year's Windward Challenge 5K will go to the March of Dimes Georgia Chapter and its Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU) Family Support Programs," said Jim Peck, CEO, LexisNexis Risk & Information Analytics Group. "LexisNexis is proud to support the efforts of this organization in the Atlanta community."

The 2009 Windward Challenge will support 500 families served through the NICU Family Support Program, which provides education, information and comfort to families during NICU hospitalization and the transition home. Proceeds from the Challenge will also help train Atlanta Medical Center NICU nurses in developmental care principles, educate parents on caring for their premature babies, and to support families, including siblings, as they bring their babies home.

"In Georgia, more than 400 babies each week are born too small, too soon. The medical costs of just one premature baby in the NICU could cover that of nearly a dozen healthy, full term babies. With this reality, we can think of no issue greater than the health of our babies," said Gannon Gingrey Manning, Board Chair, March of Dimes Georgia Chapter. "We are thrilled to partner with LexisNexis as a beneficiary of its tenth annual Windward Challenge. Together we are raising critical funds to help more babies survive and thrive."

Since 2000, the Windward Challenge has brought together the Windward Parkway corporate and residential communities to raise more than $650,000 for charitable nonprofit organizations in the Atlanta area. This year, LexisNexis aims to raise several more thousand dollars to benefit March of Dimes, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Registration for the LexisNexis Windward Challenge is $20 for individuals in advance or $25 on race day; for a family of four, registration is $55 and each additional child is $15. Race day registration is $65 for a family of 4. For questions about participating or volunteering for the race, please contact Cecilie Goodman at cecilie.goodman@lexisnexis.com.
