    Our California antitrust and unfair competition law derives from statutes, policies, concerns, and history unique to our state. This new treatise is being launched to comprehensively document and describe this area of law which presents a broad and rich palette for practitioners and regulators. Rather than produce a fourth version of our earlier publications, we brought to this effort a larger ambition that went beyond updates and revisions. Highly experienced practitioners of differing perspectives were engaged to undertake a fresh, balanced and comprehensive review of each subject area of our state's antitrust and unfair competition laws. Teams of peer reviewers also drawn from the ranks of our state's leading practitioners were tasked with the review of every chapter.     Thomas Dahdouh


    Thomas Dahdouh is a staff attorney at the Federal Trade Commission?s Western Region office in San Francisco. He works on both antitrust and consumer protection matters. Before coming to the FTC?s San Francisco office, he served as an Assistant to the Director of the FTC?s Bureau of Competition. Previous to that, he served as an Attorney Advisor to two FTC Commissioners, Dennis Yao and Christine Varney. He received his J.D. in 1987 from Harvard Law School, graduating magna cum laude, and his B.A. in 1982 from Yale University, graduating summa cum laude.

    Geoffrey T. Holtz


    Geoffrey T. Holtz is a partner at Bingham McCutchen LLP, resident in their San Francisco office. He attended Stanford and San Diego State Universities with a B.A. in English and is a magna cum laude graduate of U.C. Hastings College of the Law, with a J.D. in 1997. He specializes in antitrust, unfair competition law, and intellectual property. He has authored previous articles on antitrust and intellectual property issues, including publication in the California State Bar Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law Section's Competition journal. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the Antitrust Section of the California State Bar.

    Kevin Y. Teruya


    Kevin Y. Teruya is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Quinn, Emanuel, Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP. He graduated from Harvard College in 1995 and from Harvard Law School in 1998. He clerked for the Honorable Herbert Y.C. Choy of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Prior to Quinn Emanuel, he practiced at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, LLP in New York City. He is an advisor to and past officer of the Executive Committee of the Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law Section of the State Bar of California, and an officer of the Executive Committee of the Antitrust and Unfair Business Practices Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. His practice is focused on antitrust, unfair competition, and intellectual property law.

    Cheryl Lee Johnson


    Cheryl Lee Johnson joined the California Department of Justice's Antitrust Section in 2006 after being a partner at Squire Sanders & Dempsey and Morrison & Foerster where her practice focused on antitrust, intellectual property and complex litigation matters. She graduated magna cum laude from Barnard College, received a master's degree from Harvard Graduate School of Education and received her law degree from Columbia Law School, where she was an editor of the Columbia Law Review and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. She was the Editor-in-Chief of California Antitrust Law (1st ed. 1991), (2d ed. (Vol. 2)), California State Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law (2009 Matthew Bender) as well as of numerous other articles and publications on patent and antitrust law. She is an officer of the California State Bar Antitrust and Unfair Competition Law Section, Executive Committee, and past officer of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Antitrust Section.
