    McCoy, Patricia A.


    Patricia A. McCoy is Professor of Law at the University of Connecticut School of Law and a member of the law school¿s Insurance Law Center. Before entering academe in 1992, Professor McCoy was partner at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw in Washington, D.C., where she specialized in complex securities, banking and commercial litigation and the trial and appellate levels. She received her B.A. from Oberlin College and her J.D. from the University of California at Berkeley (Boalt Hall), where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Industrial Relations Law Journal (now the Berkeley Journal of Employment and Labor Law). Following graduation, she clerked for the late Judge Robert S. Vance of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

    Professor McCoy is the author of numerous publications on topics including systemic risk and bank insolvency, consumer protection, bank director liability, post-socialist business law reforms, and global convergence in banking standards. She also served as editor and contributor for Financial Modernization After Gramm-Leach-Bliley, published by LexisNexis Matthew Bender in 2002.

    Professor McCoy¿s other professional affiliations include appointment as Visiting Scholar at the MIT Department of Economics for the 2002-2003 school year. She currently serves as member of the consumer Advisory Council of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve and as director of the Insurance Marketplace Standards Association. In 2001, she served as Chair of the Section on Financial Institutions and Consumer Financial Services of the Association of American Law Schools. Professor McCoy regularly lectures in Russia and Eastern Europe on transition reforms.
