    Maxwell, Richard E.


    Dick Maxwell is Senior Fellow and past executive director of the Buckeye Association of School Administrators in Columbus and a past president of the Association.

    A leader in Ohio school finance, Maxwell develops and presents school finance workshops for school districts, universities and organizations, teaches graduate courses at Ashland University, and writes the sought-after School Finance Newsletter published by BASA.

    Maxwell, a native of Jackson Center, Ohio, and graduate of the College of Wooster, started his career in education as a teacher in Cloverleaf Local Schools in Lodi, Ohio. After earning his master¿s degree in Education Administration from Akron University in 1968, he became the Federal Coordinator and Assistant Principal in West Holmes Local Schools in Millersburg, Ohio. He has completed post-graduate work in education administration at Kent State University and Akron University.

    Maxwell served 23 years as a superintendent for West Holmes Local Schools, Holmes County Schools and Holmes County Mental Retardation Development Disabilities Board before joining the BASA staff.

    A dedicated educator, Maxwell was awarded the BASA Distinguished Service Award in 2000 for outstanding educational leadership in Ohio. He also received commendation for his educational accomplishments from the Ohio House of representatives in 1993 and the Ohio Senate in 2000.

    In addition, the Ohio Association of Local School Superintendents named him Educator of the Year in 1994, and he received the BASA President¿s Award and BASA Exemplary Leadership Award for his dedication and service to public education.

    Scott Sweetland began his career as an administrator for Manufacturers and Traders Trust. After earning an MBA in Finance at St. Bonaventure University, Sweetland became a college professor teaching statistics, finance, and economics. Upon completing the PhD at SUNY Buffalo, Sweetland joined The Ohio State University graduate faculty. Scott¿s lifelong area of interest, teaching, and publication is the amalgamate of money, people, and organizations.
