    Hoffman, Jerome A.


    Professor Hoffman received his A.B. degree in 1962 and his J.D. in 1965 from the University of Nebraska, where he graduated Order of the Coif and served as editor-in-chief of the Nebraska Law Review. He was in private practice in California with the firm of McCutchen, Black, Verleger & Shea from 1965 to 1968. Prior to coming to The University of Alabama, he was assistant professor of law at the University of New Mexico (1968-71). Professor Hoffman came to the The University of Alabama School of Law as an associate professor in 1971. He was appointed professor of law in 1974 and was named to the Elton B. Stephens professorship in 1992.

    He has been a member of the Alabama Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on Civil Practice and Procedure since 1971. Professor Hoffman is the author of numerous books and articles on evidence and civil procedure.
