    King, E. James


    E. James King has been an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Michigan since 1990. He is responsible for prosecuting violations of the Controlled Substance Act, including international conspiracies, continuing criminal enterprises, intentional killings, asset forfeitures, money laundering, and firearms offenses. From July 1996 to July 1997, Mr. King served as Special Attorney to the Attorney General to prosecute a 12-defendant task force case in the Northern District of Ohio. In an earlier high profile assignment in Michigan, Mr. King prosecuted 54 members of a violent drug trafficking conspiracy involving more than 50 murders. In one of a series of trials, eight gang members were found guilty on all counts of the indictment, including seven homicides. During his tenure in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Mr. King has received the Director's Award for Sustained Superior Performance (1996), the Special Achievement Award (1996), and the International Narcotic Enforcement Officers Association Special Award of Honor (1994). Previously, he was Special Attorney to the Detroit Task Force, Organized Crime and Racketeering Section (1988-1990), Special Agent for the Drug Enforcement Administration (1969-1988), and Special Agent for the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation Division (1967-1969). Mr. King received his J.D. cum laude from the Detroit College of Law and his B.S. in Psychology from Xavier University in Cincinnati. He teaches courses and conducts seminars in a variety of subjects at the Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University, the U.S. Attorney's Office, and DEA training schools throughout the U.S.
