    Sinclair, Kent


    Professor Kent Sinclair, an active member of the Virginia Bar, teaches the program in Virginia Law & Practice at the University of Virginia School of Law. He is Professor of Law and served for many years as Associate Dean of the Law School. He has written more than a dozen books, and is the author of Sinclair & Middleditch, Virginia Civil Procedure (4th ed. 2003 and annual supplements), and co-author of Friend & Sinclair, Virginia Pleading and Practice (2nd ed. 2007 with annual supplements). He is Chair of the Advisory Committee on Rules of Court for Virginia, and has served as Reporter for the Virginia Model Jury Project for a number of years. He has served on the Board of Governors of the Litigation Section of the Virginia Bar Association and the Boyd-Graves Conference on Virginia Law. He edits the Virginia Advance Court Rules and Practice Service for Lexis Law Publishing and is a frequent lecturer at continuing education programs for attorneys and Virginia judges. For the past 15 years he has been Reporter and Editor of the Guide to Evidence in Virginia.

    Charles E. Friend


    Charles E. Friend is a former law professor now living in Williamsburg. A native Virginian, Mr. Friend received his J.D. from the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary, where he graduated first in his class and was Editor in Chief of the William and Mary Law Review. After several years in private practice, during which he served as a substitute judge and commissioner in chancery in York County, he entered law teaching and taught torts and evidence for many years at the University of Richmond and other law schools.

    He is the author of the LexisNexis titles The Law of Evidence in Virginia, Friend's Virginia Pleading and Practice, and Personal Injury Law in Virginia. Mr. Friend has also authored and co-authored numerous CLE handbooks and has written many articles for law reviews and other legal periodicals. He also served for over two decades at editor of The Virginia Bar Association Journal. He has lectured on legal subjects for a wide variety of organizations including the Supreme Court of Virginia, The Court of Appeals of Virginia, and other judicial groups, and has participated in numerous Continuing Legal Education programs throughout the state.
