    In May 2012 a federal district court held the new NLRB election rule to be invalid because the Board lacked a quorum when it purported to adopt it. Although the Board has temporarily suspended the implementation of the rule, which had gone into effect on April 30, 2012, the future implications of the court's decision are unclear.
