    In a July 15, 2011, Report and Order on digital transition for low power television, the Federal Communications Commission took final rulemaking actions providing for, among other things, a Hard Deadline of September 1, 2015, "Last-Minute" Extensions, Consumer Education, and Special Out-of-Core Transition Deadline and Procedures.

     

    Peter Gutmann is a member of Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC, Washington, D.C. He has extensive experience in the field of communications, focusing on the transactional and regulatory needs of medium- and small-market broadcasters, viz., staying current with FCC and other governmental requirements; negotiating and guiding the purchase and sale of media properties; and meeting the challenges of a successful business in the modern environment. He worked in commercial and non-commercial radio programming and management throughout college and graduate school. He wrote the "Classical Notes" column for Goldmine magazine and a monthly "After Hours" column for Legal Times, and now writes a legal column for Radio Guide.
