    Murphy, John F.


    John F. Murphy is Professor of Law at Villanova University. In addition to teaching, his career has included a year in India on a Ford Foundation Fellowship, private practice in New York and Washington D.C., and service in the office of the Assistant Legal Adviser for United Nations Affairs, U.S. of Kansas, and has been a visiting professor at Cornell University and Georgetown University. From 1980-81 he was the Charles H. Stockton Professor of International Law at the Naval War College.

    Professor Murphy is the author/editor of several books and monographs. Professor Murphy co-authored (with Alan C. Swan), The Regulation of International Business and Economic Relations (Matthew Bender, 1991), which was awarded the Certificate of Merit by the American Society of International Law in 1992 and is now in its Second Edition. Professor Murphy also has authored: Report of the Special Working Committee on Responses to State-Sponsored Terrorism, Nonviolent Responses to Violence-Prone Problems: The Cases of Disputed Maritime Claims and State-Sponsored Terrorism (American Society of International Law, 1991); State Support of International Terrorism: Legal, Political, and Economic Dimensions (Westview Press, 1989); Punishing International Terrorists: The Legal Framework for Policy Initiatives (Rowman & Allanheld, 1985); The United Nations and the Control of International Violence (Allanheld & Osmun, 1982); Legal Aspects of International Terrorism: Summary Report of an International Conference (West Publishing Co., 1980); (with Alona E. Evans, co-editor and contributor), Legal Aspects of International Terrorism (Lexington Books, 1978). He is also the author of numerous articles, comments and reviews on international law and relations.
