    The last few years, however, have seen a dramatic and deliberate increase in the number of FCPA cases brought against individuals. As part of its effort to deter individual misconduct, the government has urged courts to impose significant prison sentences. This piece discusses some of those cases, including when a Miami federal judge imposed the longest prison sentence--15 years--in the history of the FCPA.

     

    Roger M. Witten, Kimberly A. Parker, and Jay Holtmeier are partners in the law firm of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP ("WilmerHale"). The firm has been involved in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act ("FCPA") issues dating back to the enactment of the statute and the government investigations that triggered its passage.
