    On February 1, 2007, the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct replaced the Ohio Code of Professional Responsibility, a set of standards that had been in place since 1970. To reflect the new rules, Anderson's The Law of Professional Responsibility in Ohio has been revised by Susan J. Becker, Jack A. Guttenberg and Lloyd B. Snyder and reissued as Anderson's The Law of Professional Conduct in Ohio. The Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct depart from the prior Ohio Code of Professional Responsibility in many ways both large and small. This book describes the new standards.

    This new work describes in great detail which rules differ from prior principles, describes some of the more noteworthy features of the new rules and points out how changes in the new rules add clarity and precision to the former Code's substantive standards. The authors have also added a series of “best practices” tips outlining specific advice and warnings for attorneys.

    Becker, Susan J.


    Professor Becker graduated magna cum laude from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1983 and clerked for the Honorable Judge Robert Krupansky of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit from 1983-1985. She was an associate in the general litigation group of Jones, Day for five years before becoming a professor at Cleveland-Marshall College in 1990. Her teaching areas include Civil Procedure, Remedies, Contracts, Pretrial Practice, Professional Responsibility, and Sexual Orientation and the Law. Her published scholarship focuses on civil litigation practice, civil justice reform, and sexual minorities and the law.

    Professor Becker has served on the Supreme Court of Ohio¿s Commission on Rules of Practice and Procedure since 2002 and because Chair of the Commission¿s Civil Rules Subcommittee in 2006. She has been a member of the Advisory Group for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio since 1995 and was Co-Chair of the Advisory Group¿s Committee on Professionalism from 1999 to 2005. She is a board member of the Ohio American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and served from 1998-2000 as the Vice President of Ohio Human Rights Bar Association (OHRBA). Professor Becker also maintains a modest pro bono legal practice.

    Snyder, Lloyd


    Lloyd Snyder joined the faculty at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in 1983. Prior to that he served as a staff attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland. Professor Snyder¿s teaching areas include Professional Responsibility, Evidence, and Scientific Evidence. He has written and lectured extensively about issues of professional responsibility. In 1992 Professor Snyder and Dean Jack Guttenberg co-authored The Law of Professional Responsibility in Ohio. Professor Snyder has been a member of the Ethics and Professionalism Committee of the Cleveland Bar Association since 1998. He currently serves as the vice chair of that committee. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Affiliate of the American Civil Liberties Union and since 2004 has been General Counsel to the Ohio Affiliate.

    Guttenberg, Jack A.


    Jack A. Guttenberg has served as the Dean and Professor of Law at Capital University Law School since 2004. Prior to that, he was on the faculty of the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, which he joined in 1980. Dean Guttenberg teaches in the areas of Professional Responsibility, Criminal Law, and Trial Practice. He has written and lectured extensively about issues of professional responsibility and lawyer discipline. He has also served as an expert and consulted in the area of professional responsibility on numerous occasions. In 1992 Dean Guttenberg and Professor Snyder co-authored The Law of Professional Responsibility in Ohio.

    Dean Guttenberg was a member of the Supreme Court of Ohio's Task Force on Professional Conduct, the group charged with redrafting the rules of conduct governing the legal profession in Ohio. He has served as a long standing member of the Ohio State Bar Association Ethics and Certified Grievance Committee and is a past member of the Cuyahoga County Bar Association's Certified Grievance Committee.
