Karen S. Rieger

Karen S. Rieger is known to her clients and other attorneys throughout Oklahoma as a local authority on healthcare legal issues. She joined Crowe & Dunlevy in 1981, and has been a shareholder and director since 1988. She has served as the Chair of the Firm's Healthcare Section since 1998. Her practice includes representation of a number of healthcare institutions and practitioners throughout Oklahoma and surrounding states on a broad range of health law issues, including the Anti-Kickback and Stark laws, HIPAA privacy and security requirements, laws affecting tax-exempt and governmental entities, Medicare reimbursement rules and others. She devotes substantially all of her time to healthcare matters, and has represented numerous healthcare clients in the sale and purchase of healthcare facilities and the development of new healthcare providers.Ms. Rieger received her bachelor (B.A., with distinction, 1978) and Juris Doctor (with honors, 1981) degrees from the University of Oklahoma, and has served as an Adjunct Professor of Healthcare Law at the University of Oklahoma College of Law. While in law school, she was a member of Order of the Coif and served as the Articles and Note Editor of the Oklahoma Law Review. She is a frequent lecturer on health law issues, having spoken to local and national audiences across the United States. She also has authored numerous articles on health law topics.She is a past president and current director of the Oklahoma Health Lawyers Association and a member and former Chairperson of the Health Law Section of the Oklahoma Bar Association. She is also a member of the ABA Health Law Section and the American Health Lawyers Association, with committee involvement on the Fraud and Abuse, Credentialing and Peer Review, Hospitals and Health Systems and Regulation and Accreditation Committees. She was also Vice Chair of the Long Term Care Committee. Ms. Rieger authored the chapter "Federal Health Information Privacy Requirements," for the American College of Legal Medicine (ACLM), LEGAL MEDICINE Textbook, 6th Edition. She served as Chairperson of the AHLA committee that authored The Hearing Officer Guidebook in 1998, and authored a chapter of the AHLA Long Term Care Handbook in 2000. She has been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Health Care Law since 1991.

Eric S. Fisher

Eric S. Fisher is a shareholder and director at Crowe & Dunlevy located in the Firm's Oklahoma City office. He is a graduate of the University of Kansas (B.S., 1988), Northwestern University (M.S., 1989) and the University of Oklahoma (J.D., with honors, 1996). While at the University of Oklahoma, he was the Editor in Chief of the Oklahoma Law Review and has published various articles on health law. Mr. Fisher also has spoken at numerous seminars on a variety of health law topics and has authored: "AIDSPHOBIA: A National Survey of Emotional Distress Claims for the Fear of Contracting AIDS," American Bar Association's Tort & Insurance Law Journal, Fall 1997; "Informed Consent in Oklahoma: A Search for Reasonableness and Predictability in the Aftermath of Scott v. Bradford." 49 Oklahoma Law Review 89, (1997); and "Potter v. Firestone: Setting the Standard of Recovery for Fear of Cancer or Shall Plaintiffs Forever be Waiting on a Miracle?" American Bar Association's Tort & Insurance Law Journal, Summer, 1995. He is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the ABA Health Law, Business Law, Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice Sections, the Oklahoma Health Lawyers Association and the Oklahoma Association of Healthcare Ethics. Mr. Fisher has a comprehensive healthcare practice focusing on administrative, regulatory and business issues affecting healthcare clients.
