    Hon. Myron H. Bright


    The Honorable Myron H. Bright was appointed a United States Circuit Judge in 1968 and became a senior circuit judge in 1985, considering over 6,000 cases during his career on the bench. He also served by assignment with the United States Court of Appeals and as a visiting federal trial judge. He has received many awards for his service during that time. He has authored or co-authored more than 20 books and articles as well as lectured in scores of seminars and CLE programs in the U.S. and abroad. Judge Bright was appointed United States Circuit Judge for the Eighth Circuit by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968. He served as an active circuit judge until 1985 and since then as a senior circuit judge, considering over 6,000 cases. He also served by assignment with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second, Third, Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, Ninth, Tenth and Eleventh Circuits and as a visiting federal trial judge in the District of Minnesota, the Eastern District of Arkansas, the District of North Dakota, the Eastern District of Missouri and the District of Massachusetts. In 2000, Judge Bright received the American Judicature Society's Herbert Harley Award for promoting effective administration of justice. In 1998, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of North Dakota Law School, Grand Forks, ND. At Saint Louis University School of Law in St. Louis, Missouri, Judge Bright served as Distinguished Professor of Law from 1985 to 1990 and as Professor Emeritus at the Law School from 1990 to 1995. Since 1981, he has presented over 25 jurists-in-residence programs with Supreme Court Justices and other judges at various law schools. Judge Bright served in the United States Army Air Corps, 1942-46, attaining the rank of Captain. He practiced law in Fargo, North Dakota with the firm of Wattam, Vogel, Vogel, Bright and Peterson from 1947 to 1968, where he engaged in a general practice with heavy emphasis on litigation. Additionally, Judge Bright has served on a number of committees of the Judicial Conference of the United States.

    Ronald Carlson


    Ronald Carlson, Fuller E. Callaway Chair of Law Emeritus, has been a member of the University of Georgia School of Law faculty since 1984, specializing in the areas of evidence, trial practice and criminal procedure. He assumed partial retirement in 2001, but continues to teach courses during the spring semester. A prodigious scholar and lecturer, Mr. Carlson has written numerous books on evidence, trial practice and criminal procedure as well as scores of articles in prominent law reviews. He has lectured at CLE seminars across the country and frequently leads seminars for judges and lawyers in Georgia. He also informs the public about the law and legal issues through his widely distributed commentary in the media on high-profile cases. Carlson earned his bachelor's degree at Augustana College, his law degree at Northwestern University and his master of laws degree at Georgetown University. He worked as a lawyer and U.S. Commissioner prior to joining the University of Iowa law faculty. He taught at Iowa for eight years before joining the law faculty at Washington University in St. Louis, MO, where he remained until accepting an offer to join UGA. He has received numerous awards, including the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association Lifetime Achievement Award, the ALI-ABA's Harrison Tweed Award for Special Merit in Continuing Legal Education, the Roscoe Pound Foundation's Richard S. Jacobson Award and the Federal Bar Association's highest honor, the Earl W. Kintner Award for Distinguished Service to the Federal Bar Association.

    Edward J. Imwinkelried


    Ed Imwinkelried is one of the top experts of admissibility of scientific evidence and evidence of uncharged crimes in the nation. The Edward L. Barrett, Jr. Professor of Law at the University of California, Davis, Imwinkelried writes about scientific evidence, evidence of uncharged crimes, and other evidence issues. His work has been cited by the U.S. Supreme Court. He is the author or co-author of several evidence treatises: McCormick, Evidence; The New Wigmore: Evidentiary Privileges; Scientific Evidence; Courtroom Criminal Evidence; Uncharged Misconduct Evidence; and Federal EvidenceTactics. In addition, he is the author or coauthor of over twenty other texts. He has written over 100 articles in law reviews and legal magazines. He is the expert testimony columnist for National Law Journal and a contributing forensic science columnist for Criminal Law Bulletin. In addition to his current position at the University of California, Davis, he has taught at the Moritz College of Law at the Ohio State University, the University of Illinois, Washington University in St. Louis, the University of San Diego, and the University of Houston. He has lectured to groups of judges, attorneys, and scientists in forty-six states.
