"Academic purposes" do not include research conducted for a law firm, corporation or other entity (other than a professor or law school) that is paying the student to conduct said research or that is passing along the costs of said research to a third party. These are deemed "commercial purposes". Students using their LexisNexis Law School Educational IDs for commercial purposes risk forfeiture of their ID. However, temporary LexisNexis Custom Sampling IDs that are given to students over the summer or at any time for free use of the LexisNexis Total Research System are not considered Educational IDs and can be utilized for either academic or commercial purposes. LexisNexis employees, such as Lexis Associates, are responsible for safeguarding their assigned internal ID number(s) and password(s) to avoid inappropriate use of the company's information products. Employees are not permitted to allow others (including customers, students, faculty or other non-employees) to use their internal ID numbers. Violation of this policy may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Students who have questions as to whether their proposed use of their LexisNexis Law School Educational ID is permitted under these guidelines can contact their LexisNexis representative for further clarification. |
