"A federal judge in south Texas issued an injunction Monday temporarily blocking a program President Obama announced in November that would defer deportation for about 5 million immigrants living in the United States illegally. The White House quickly issued a statement saying the federal government would appeal the decision. The statement left unclear whether the ruling would, for now, delay the administration's anti-deportation effort. The injunction, accompanied by a 123-page opinion issued by U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen in Brownsville, bars federal immigration officials from implementing Deferred Action for Parents of Americans, or DAPA, and expanding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA." - Molly Hennesy-Fiske, Christine Mai-Duc, Michael Muskal, Kathleen Hennesey, L.A.
