"Just a few years back, Audé Negrete-Banos was judged reliable enough to run President Barack Obama’s 2012 re-election campaign in Kansas and welcomed on a West Wing tour amid the inauguration festivities that followed. Her local sheriff in Johnson County, Kansas praises her recent work as a volunteer in helping him sort through issues of law enforcement and the Hispanic community. But until Thursday afternoon, the 29-year-old Mexican-American community organizer was locked out of a migrant detention center in Dilley, Texas where she had gone Sunday to assist the women and children held there by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The reason: a minor 2012 arrest after a family altercation in which no charges were ever brought against Negrete-Banos but gave ICE reason enough to stall her work for most of this week." - Politico, May 28, 2015.
