Each year, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) of Greater Cincinnati honors companies and organizations for their dedication to fairness and equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals with the 2012 Equality Awards. The awards recognize a company each year for outstanding efforts in promoting equality for LGBT people in the workplace and are the highest recognition a business or non-profit group can receive from HRC.
This year LexisNexis was honored along with two other regional leaders in Ohio, Brown-Forman and Caracole. "All of the organizations we are honoring have been champions of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights in our region for years, and have made a huge impact on the lives of the people in our workplaces and our communities. Thanks to these fair-minded companies and organizations, cities like Cincinnati, Dayton and Louisville are able to attract new talent and diversity to our region," said HRC Board of Governor, Jeff Caywood. "We applaud their efforts to promote equality and foster inclusiveness in our neighborhoods and work environments."
Alyce Clark, Vice President of Human Resources at LexisNexis and PRIDE President, said: "Reed Elsevier and LexisNexis executive leadership strongly support all LexisNexis Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), including our PRIDE group which was established in 2010. This is a key reflection of the company's commitment to build a culture that embraces diversity and fosters an inclusive environment in which all employees can contribute to their fullest potential in the workplace and in their communities."
On February 25, LexisNexis representatives accepted the Equality Award at HRC's 3rd annual Greater Cincinnati gala dinner. Senior technical support representative, Kevin Mabrey was also honored with a HRC "Hero" award at the gala, which the LN PRIDE leadership team nominated him for, stating: "Since the inception of our group in 2010, Kevin has been a passionate PRIDE advocate and for LGBT issues in general. As the External Outreach Chairperson for PRIDE, Kevin has worked tirelessly to network with Dayton and Cincinnati area LGBT groups. His networking efforts have garnered LN PRIDE-and LexisNexis-tremendous positive exposure within the LGBT community and have helped the regional community at large recognize LexisNexis as a great place to work. We congratulate Kevin for this honor and for his tremendous work on behalf of our LN PRIDE group."
On February 29, Alyce with Customer Development & Sales Ops specialist and Reed Elsevier/LexisNexis Internal Chairman for the PRIDE group Jim Hook and HRC's Jeff Caywood appeared on the WDTN news program Living Dayton, to discuss HRC and LexisNexis receipt of the Equality Award.
