CLEVELAND - Ulmer & Berne LLP has announced that veteran employment and labor attorney Mark Floyd has joined the firm as partner and co-chair of the Employment & Labor Practice Group. Floyd, who has more than 25 years of experience and is well known throughout the Cleveland legal and business communities, joins Ulmer & Berne from another area law firm where he was a partner in its labor and employment practice group.
Floyd focuses his practice on employment litigation. He has defended management in alleged discrimination, wrongful discharge, covenant not to compete and trade secret litigation. He has also defended employers in class action lawsuits alleging violation of ERISA governed pension and welfare plans. In addition, Floyd has extensive experience in traditional management labor representation, including contract negotiations and matters involving grievance, arbitration and administrative hearings on behalf of both private and public sector clients. He has represented employers in matters before the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and has counseled employers on all aspects of immigration laws and procedures.
In addition to his successful private practice, Floyd serves as pro bono legal counsel to both the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association. Earlier in his career, Floyd spent 17 years with Squire Sanders & Dempsey LLP and also spent time as co-chair of the employment practice at Thompson Hine LLP.
