Union Files RICO Class Action Against Novartis For Drug Co-Pay Program

NEWARK, N.J. - A union health benefit plan on March 7 filed a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act class action against Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp., alleging that the drug company's co-pay program for two prescription drugs constitutes kickbacks and bribes that harm drug benefit providers by causing them to pay for expensive prescription drugs rather than less expensive generic drugs (Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 572 Health and Welfare Fund, et al. v. Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corp., No. 2:33-av-1, D. N.J.).
