The New Jersey Department of Banking & Insurance just issued a significant new Hurricane Sandy-related order that will affect nearly all insurers doing business in the State of New Jersey. It requires insurers to participate in a mediation program at the request of the insureds. In a new bulletin, the Department also set a deadline for insurers to notify their insureds of the mediation program. In a new Emerging Issues Analysis, "Robinson & Cole LLP on New Jersey's Department of Banking and Insurance Unveils Mandatory Mediation Program for Sandy Claims," the Insurance and Reinsurance Group at Robinson & Cole provides a summary of the key features of the mediation order and bulletin.
