Biography:
Harriet grew up in Western Australia, where her grandfather was one of the first lawyers for the Aboriginal Legal Service in Western Australia. Graduating with a Law/Arts degree from the University of Western Australia, Harriet initially applied her learning in the challenging legal contexts of Native Title, Refugee and Aboriginal rights before eventually transitioning into a 22-year career in construction law in which she has practiced and acted in five Australian states.
Harriet is Founder + Principal of an innovative firm with a focus on client service, efficiency through technology and excellence. Warlows Legal is a rapidly growing Melbourne based law firm established on 1 March 2021. In April 2022, Harriet was proud to announce that the law firm was one of the first law firms in Australia to become certified as carbon neutral. In her practice, Harriet combines a significant amount of pro bono work with a thriving legal practice that specialises in construction law, litigation, start-ups and charities. In particular, Harriet has worked on a number of matters that have resulted in reported decisions clarifying the Security of Payments regime.
Harriet now mentors and leads a team of dedicated lawyers with an increasing emphasis of providing personalised and tailored services to a diverse array of clients ranging from building practitioners, contractors, and homeowners with remarkable results.
Memberships
Harriet is currently a member of the Law Institute of Victoria Building and Construction Committee. Harriet is also the Honorary Secretary of Australian Friends of United Hatzalah. Harriet is a member of the Society of Construction Lawyers Australia, the Building Disputes Practitioners Society, the Charity Lawyers of Australia and New Zealand and the Law Institute of Victoria. Harriet regularly presents on topics of construction law, charity law and start-ups to members of the legal profession and the public.
