Abu Dhabi: Specialised Court Established for Human Trafficking Crimes

Gulf News, 7 July 2026: His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan has issued Abu Dhabi Resolution No. 40/2026 establishing a specialised court in Abu Dhabi to adjudicate human trafficking crimes, reinforcing the emirate’s judicial protection framework.

The resolution, issued in Sheikh Mansour’s capacity as Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD), forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen judicial specialisation and ensure timely justice. It introduces an integrated procedural framework beginning with a specialised Public Prosecution dedicated to investigating and prosecuting human trafficking crimes, extending jurisdiction to Courts of First Instance and Courts of Appeal.

The court will have exclusive jurisdiction over all human trafficking cases arising in Abu Dhabi, with existing cases referred to it unless pleadings have already closed. This consolidation is designed to enhance efficiency, accelerate adjudication, and unify protection mechanisms.

The ADJD undersecretary has been tasked with issuing the necessary decisions to implement the resolution and ensure the court exercises its jurisdiction effectively.
