Gulf News, 18 June 2026: Ajman Transport Authority has announced the full implementation of a digital payment system across its taxi fleet, making all fare transactions cashless in support of the emirate’s smart mobility and digital transformation goals.
Passengers can now pay fares using QR codes displayed on taxi meters and mobile devices, as well as POS terminals that accept bank cards and contactless payments. The system is designed to provide secure, fast, and seamless transactions, reducing reliance on cash handling while enhancing customer convenience.
Engineer Sami Ali Al Jallaf, Executive Director of the Public Transport Corporation, described the initiative as a milestone in Ajman’s transport development. He highlighted that the project improves operational efficiency, strengthens security and reliability, and supports sustainability objectives within the transport sector.
