Gulf Digital News, 6 August 2026: Bahrain’s Interior Ministry (Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs - NPRA) and the UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Abu Dhabi to implement a one‑stop air travel system between the two countries.
The ‘One Stop’ project enables travellers to complete all entry procedures for the destination country before departure, eliminating repeated inspections and reducing waiting times upon arrival. The agreement establishes an institutional framework for cooperation, including the exchange of pre‑entry data under strict information security and data protection protocols.
The MoU was signed by Brigadier Abdulaziz Abdulrahman Al Doseri, Assistant Under‑Secretary for Ports, Search and Follow‑Up at Bahrain’s Interior Ministry, and Dr Hamad Saif Al Mashghouni, Executive Director of the UAE Airports Affairs Sector, in the presence of officials from both sides.
Officials said the initiative supports integration of electronic systems, enhances operational efficiency, and improves service quality. It also contributes to strengthening joint Gulf action, developing port systems, enhancing security, and facilitating passenger traffic.
The project was approved by GCC Interior Ministers during their 42nd meeting in Kuwait last year. Bahrain and the UAE were selected to trial the first phase, which applies to Gulf Air and Etihad Airways flights for citizens travelling between Bahrain International Airport and Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi. The first phase was launched on 16 February 2026.
