Bahrain’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has released new General Guidelines on Licensing and Usage of Radiocommunications Devices (Ref: LAD/0826/030) dated 13 September 2026, clarifying compliance obligations for licensed users.
The guidelines require licensed users of radiocommunications equipment to notify the TRA in cases such as cancellation, transfer, sale, export, damage, loss, or change of location of wireless devices. Proof of submission or police reports must accompany notifications in relevant cases.
Annual renewal fees are due upon licence expiry, and failure to notify the TRA before the end of November may result in revocation. Any use of frequencies or stations without a valid licence is prohibited under Article 43 of Bahrain Legislative Decree No. 48/2002 Promulgating the Telecommunications Law, with violations punishable by fines up to BHD 500,000.
The guidelines also stipulate that:
Copies of licences must be presented to authorities when required.
Lists of wireless equipment users and their personal numbers must be provided upon request.
Devices must not be used to transmit unauthorised content such as music, offensive language, misleading or encrypted messages, or political and religious material.
