Gulf News, 7 September 2026: The General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai has officially launched the “Click and Travel” service, enabling passport officers to process passenger entry and departure procedures via mobile devices in 12 to 15 seconds.
The announcement was made at Dubai International Airport on 7 September 2026, attended by senior officials including Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of GDRFA Dubai, and Major General Talal Ahmed Al Shanqiti, Assistant Director General for Airport Affairs.
The service integrates biometric fingerprinting, facial recognition, and electronic passport reading with secure pre‑screening, allowing officers to complete transactions quickly and away from fixed counters. This mobile flexibility improves passenger flow management during peak periods, congestion, and emergencies.
During its pilot phase between May and August 2026, “Click and Travel” processed immigration procedures for more than 31,000 passengers. The project began with a pilot at Terminal 3 in October 2025, expanded to all passenger categories in May 2026, and was officially launched in September 2026.
The service is available to UAE citizens, residents, GCC nationals, and visitors.
