Times Kuwait, 11 August 2026: Kuwait’s Council of Ministers has approved a draft decree‑law establishing a comprehensive legal framework for drones, light sport aircraft, air sports and related activities.
The draft law sets clear rules for registration, licensing, authorisation and operation, while outlining obligations, prohibited activities and penalties. The Cabinet warned that unregulated use of drones could threaten air navigation, national security, public order, privacy, and the safety of people and property.
The General Directorate of Civil Aviation will oversee implementation in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, security and military authorities, and other agencies. The legislation contains 44 articles across six chapters, covering general provisions, licensing, prohibitions, penalties and final provisions. The draft was referred to H.H. the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al‑Ahmad Al‑Jaber Al‑Sabah.
