Oman: Civil Aviation Authority Issues Rules Governing Airspace for Space Launch Activities

Oman Observer, 27 September 2026: Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority has issued new regulations establishing mandatory procedures and minimum lead times for operators requesting airspace access for space-launch activities.

Oman's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has introduced rules governing airspace use for commercial spaceflight and launch operations. Under the framework, launch operators must submit formal airspace applications accompanied by a qualified subject matter expert at least 45 working days prior to a scheduled launch.

The regulation mandates direct coordination between the Etlaq Spaceport and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MoTCIT) to conduct joint airspace risk assessments, evaluate meteorological conditions, and enforce operational safety standards within Omani airspace.
