Oman Observer, 1 June 2026: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik has promulgated the Law on Combating Cybercrime through Oman Sultani Decree No. 61/2026, repealing the earlier Oman Sultani Decree No. 12/2011 on Cybercrime Law legislation and modernising Oman’s legal framework against digital threats.
Oman Sultani Decree No. 61/2026 enforces the provisions of the new law attached to it, annuls Oman Sultani Decree No. 12/2011, and cancels all conflicting regulations. It stipulates publication in the Official Gazette, with enforcement beginning the day after publication.
The updated law reflects Oman’s commitment to strengthening cybersecurity, protecting individuals and institutions from online crimes, and aligning national legislation with evolving technological realities.
