Al Khaleej, 15 June 2026: The Sharjah Consultative Council (SCC) has approved the 2026 draft law regulating the profession of court‑appointed expertise, following amendments and final deliberations in its eighteenth and closing session of the third ordinary term.
The session, chaired by Halima Hamid Al Owais, was attended by senior officials including Dr Mansour Mohammed bin Nassar, Head of the Legal Department of the Sharjah Government, and Sheikh Faisal bin Ali Al Mualla, Secretary‑General of the Sharjah Judicial Council.
Council members reviewed the law’s provisions and strategic objectives, emphasising the importance of expertise as a specialised profession that provides decisive technical opinions to judicial authorities or by agreement between litigants. Discussions highlighted the role of qualified experts in supporting judicial integrity, improving the accuracy of rulings, and enhancing the quality of professional practice.
The law sets out licensing requirements, expert rights and obligations, registration procedures for citizens and non‑citizens, and conditions for local and international expertise firms. It also regulates the legal oath process before experts commence official duties.
