Sharjah: Executive Council Advances Correctional Facility Law Draft

Sharjah24, 11 August 2026: His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Deputy Chairman of the Executive Council, chaired the Council’s meeting at the Ruler’s Office to review legislative and organisational reforms.

The Council examined amendments proposed by the Sharjah Consultative Council to the draft law regulating the Correctional Facility in the emirate. The changes aim to establish stronger legal frameworks that safeguard rights, ensure proper law enforcement, and promote social stability. The Council directed its General Secretariat to submit the draft law to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, for issuance.

The Council also reviewed a report from the Organizational Structures Committee, which highlighted efforts to align government agencies’ competencies with their founding legislation. The report outlined improvements in administrative and organisational practices, unification of structure preparation methodologies, enhancement of governance and institutional sustainability, and adoption of modern organisational models.

According to the report, adopting clear organisational structures has improved management hierarchies, clarified responsibilities, and strengthened governance across government entities. It also had a direct impact on employees by clarifying administrative subordination, competencies, and career paths. The report reviewed structures already adopted and plans to complete the remaining frameworks to further enhance government performance and integration of roles among departments.
