1,000 Migrants Detained at McAllen Station, Agents Warn of Overcrowding

"Border Patrol agents detained roughly 1,000 people Wednesday morning at the McAllen Station, severely overcrowding the modest building on Military Highway.  Without anywhere else to keep them, agents temporarily detained many immigrants who entered the United States illegally inside the McAllen Station’s “sally port” — basically a gated garage. The makeshift holding area, though, isn’t anything new.  “It’s inhumane, any way you look at it,” said Agent Chris Cabrera, vice president of National Border Patrol Council Local 3307, who estimated the McAllen Station was designed to hold roughly 300 people." - The Monitor, May 21, 2014.
