Midwest Economy Needs Immigration Reform: Juliana Kerr

"The Chicago Council on Global Affairs issued a report in February (view the PDF) in which a bipartisan group of more than 50 leaders including corporate CEOs, university presidents, small-business owners, doctors, mayors, lawyers, sheriffs, advocacy leaders and communities of faith prioritized the region's immigration policy needs.  No one agrees that the current immigration system is effective or acceptable. This important issue has languished in Washington for far too long while Midwestern businesses and communities struggle with the challenges of this flawed system.  We hope the House responds with a greater sense of urgency. Policies that promote economic competitiveness will resonate in this region.  The Midwest economy—its communities, its businesses, and its future—is waiting." - Juliana Kerr, Aug. 26, 2013.
