- Tennessee: The Tennessee Supreme Court held that the right to petition the government does not prohibit private employers from firing employees for making complaints to the government. See Smith v. Bluecross Blueshield of Tenn., No. E2022-1058-SC-R11-CV (Tenn. May 22, 2024).
- Virginia: Virginia expanded its prohibitions against covenants not to compete for low-wage employees to include any employee eligible for overtime compensation under the Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 U.S.C. § 207. See 2024 Va. SB 1218, amending Code Ann. § 40.1-28.7:8.
