Ending Soon! COVID Health Emergency Scheduled to End on May 11, 2023
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is planning for the federal Public Health Emergency for COVID-19, declared under Section 319 of the Public Health Service Act, to expire on May 11, 2023. The announcement follows the Administration’s January 30, 2023, Statement of Administration Policy announcing its plan to extend both the public health emergency and the national emergency until May 11, 2023. HHS releases initial guidance for Medicare Prescription Drug Inflation Rebate Program under the Inflation Reduction Act providing that drug companies will rebate Medicare when their prescription drug prices increase faster than the rate of inflation for certain drugs dispensed to Medicare enrollees.
