Health Plan Disclosures: Improving Cost Transparency
The new Transparency in Coverage (TiC) rules require a group health plan to post links to machine-readable files containing the TiC pricing information on in-network and out-of-network fees on a publicly available website. These rules were effective July 1,2022 with disclosure of drug files being delayed. Employers sponsoring fully insured medical plan options can rely on the insurance carrier to satisfy this requirement but employers sponsoring a self-insured medical plan option have to determine the most appropriate course of action to comply.
