Employ this HIPAA-compliant template in agreements between covered entities and third-party researchers to whom covered entities may disclose limited data sets for research, public health, or healthcare operations. Publish information to patients and healthcare plan participants on their rights under HIPAA, which include in part that individuals have rights to adequate notice of the uses and disclosures that HIPAA covered entities may make of their PHI. Learn when patients and plan participants must receive an initial copy of the notice (e.g., upon presentation or enrollment, following material changes to the notice, and periodically thereafter) and what information the notice must contain. - HIPAA Business Associate Policy
Establish your entity’s internal policies and procedures for dealing with third-party service providers that handle PHI on your behalf. Conform this policy to your organization’s operations and train your organization’s personnel who have authority to administer or retain service providers whose functions entail handling and review of PHI in your organization’s possession or under your control.
