New Key Facial Recognition Data Privacy Requirements in Washington State
This checklist describes key requirements imposed on state and local government entities in Washington State following the passage of the state's facial recognition statute, SB 6280. Rev. Code Wash. (ARCW) Title 43, Ch. 43.386. This statute, effective as of July 1, 2021, sets strict conditions that must be met before governmental agencies are permitted to use facial recognition technology.
