Privacy Legislation and Regulation To Watch in 2023
With privacy legislation becoming effective this year in five states (CA, VA, CO, UT, and CT), most practitioners predict that 2023 will bring additional legislation on the state consumer privacy front. Privacy professionals are also keeping a close eye on long-standing efforts to enact a federal data privacy framework and the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) increasingly aggressive approach to regulating data handling practices. Last but not least, professionals look for the finalization of an EU/US data transfer agreement. See more on these issues in this Law360 article.
