Organization is first premier e-discovery service provider to earn ISO 9001:2000 certification

April 5, 2007 — Bellevue, WA, April 05, 2007 LexisNexis®, a leading provider of information services and legal support technology, today announced that the Applied Discovery® e-discovery offering has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification for quality management, production workflow and processes from Platinum Registration. The internationally recognized certification for quality is the first such accreditation earned by a premier e-discovery provider.

ISO (International Organization for Standardization) is a highly recognized, non-governmental organization composed of a federation of national standards bodies from 149 countries. The organization identifies the international standards required by business, government and society; develops those standards in partnership within the sectors where they will be used; adopts transparent procedures based on national input, and then provides a means to implement these standards of implementation worldwide.

Certification is awarded after an in-depth audit of business methodology and processes has been performed. Initiated in January 2006 and concluded this month, the third party ISO 9001: 2000 certification audit for Applied Discovery was conducted by Platinum Registration, Inc., a management system registrar accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board.

The core of the Platinum audit consisted of an assessment of the organization’s quality management systems in five key areas required for ISO 9001:2000 certification:  1) Quality Management System, 2) Management Responsibility, 3) Resource Management, 4) Product Realization, and 5) Measurement, Analysis and Improvement. Specific to e-discovery, the audit reviewed processes, systems and management of services including:  data gathering, media restoration, data processing, online review, document production and reporting, software development and client product training.
