LexisNexis Once Again Earns Perfect Score in 2011 Best Places to Work Survey for LGBT Equality
100 percent rating in the Corporate Equality Index by Human Rights Campaign Foundation underscores continued commitment to diversity November 2, 2010 — New York - LexisNexis, a leading global provider of content-enabled workflow solutions, today announced it has once again achieved the top rating of one hundred percent in the 2011 Corporate Equality Index and Best Places to Work survey on ***, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) equality in corporate America. Awarded by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, the nation’s largest ***, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, this recognition is based on an in-depth analysis and rating of large U.S. employers on their policies and practices pertinent to corporate equality and LGBT employees. LexisNexis continues to be recognized for its commitment to providing domestic partner benefits, having a non-discrimination policy that includes sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, as well as engagement in appropriate and respectful advertising and marketing. Based on criteria evaluating services and characteristics that employees, customers and investors value most in an organization, the Foundation’s Corporate Equality Index serves as a roadmap and benchmarking tool for U.S. businesses in the field of sexual orientation and gender identity. "We are very pleased to once again be recognized in the Corporate Equality Index and Best Places to Work survey on ***, gay, bisexual and transgender issues," said Linda Hlavac, senior vice president of Human Resources, LexisNexis, U.S. "Our employees are multi-faceted individuals who bring unique backgrounds, skills and perspectives to their roles. Our employees are a clear competitive advantage. By fostering an inclusive work environment and by celebrating and leveraging our differences, we can better raise a collective voice in support of the LGBT community and promote equality and inclusion in the workplace and in our communities." Among other initiatives, LexisNexis facilitated the launch of a second Pride employee resource group in 2010. The Pride group partners with senior leadership and human resources team members to create local programs and activities that help establish the company’s accepting culture among employees and customers. The groups also work on national events and help establish best practices across the organization. Additionally, Pride members take an active role as volunteers in their surrounding communities and form partnerships with external organizations to promote tolerance and human rights. As diversity and inclusion becomes a core differentiator for sustainable business practices, law firms and legal departments are looking to manage and evaluate diversity information. Through its online service Lexis® Diversity Insight, LexisNexis provides a diversity dashboard that helps corporations to gauge the diversity performance of their outside counsel on an individual or aggregate firm basis. Similarly, the solution streamlines the submission of diversity data by law firms to corporate clients. The Corporate Equality Index 2011 report is available at www.hrc.org/cei.
