LexisNexis Opens New Data Center in United Kingdom
Top-tier data facility to serve as information systems hub for clients with offices in U.K. and other parts of Western Europe
August 7, 2012 — NEW YORK – LexisNexis® Legal & Professional (www.lexisnexis.com), a leading provider of content and technology solutions, today announced the opening of a new, state-of-the-art data center in the U.K. that will provide comprehensive hosting services for law firms, litigation service bureaus and in-house legal departments.
The new LexisNexis data center is located in Redhill, outside of London, and is convenient to nearby Gatwick Airport. The raised-floor facility has obtained all industry certifications for utility power, generator backup, cooling, communications, fire protection and multiple layers of security.
“This top of the line, high-availability data center has abundant capacity to serve the information systems hosting needs of our clients in the U.K. and other parts of Western Europe,” said Terry Williams, vice president of Lexis® Managed Technology Solutions. “It gives us more robust infrastructure so we can continue to protect organizations against business interruption, provide maximum levels of security and reduce their risk exposure by providing them with the only personalized global legal hosting solution.”
Lexis Managed Technology Solutions provides law firms and corporations with a strategy for decreasing data management costs and reducing risk. It offers customers access to the best practices in data and policy management, backed by more than 35 years of experience in legal data management.
Service offerings include:
- Replication: real-time or near-real-time moving of data to a location outside the primary storage system or to another facility to allow for quick restoration in the event of physical damage to systems and buildings
- Security: applying best practices and security technology to the storage system to augment server and network security measures
- Systems and application management: exceptional service delivery with 100 percent satisfaction rates for management of information systems and applications
- Network services: network design and consulting, validation and testing, implementation, management and monitoring
To support these services, Lexis Managed Technology Solutions operates several top-tier data centers in Ohio, Illinois and Arizona, as well as an Asia facility in Hong Kong. These data centers serve as either the primary or secondary hosting sites for litigation data and information systems including large enterprise software applications.
“In addition to the important role that these world-class data centers play in our clients’ IT strategies as reliable hosting sites, they offer data backup and protection against possible disasters, data corruption crises, hardware failure or major human error,” said Williams.
According to Williams, the new U.K. data center has been built out by LexisNexis to include a conference room and functional office working space for clients who wish to visit the facility and conduct meetings on the premises.
