Alliance Provides Ability to Conduct Comprehensive Prior Art Research on lexis.com

April 16, 2007 — Dayton, OH, April 16, 2007 LexisNexis announced today an alliance with Elsevier that grants LexisNexis the exclusive license to provide full-text journals to law firms, corporate legal departments, and government entities worldwide. LexisNexis® is a leading provider of legal, news, business and risk solutions. Elsevier is a leading, multi-media publisher of nearly 25 percent of the world’s scientific, technical science, and technology content sources.

Under the agreement, LexisNexis customers will be able to search Elsevier titles from the LexisNexis platform. An initial release of 75 journals of particular interest to intellectual property attorneys and librarians will be followed by offerings in other scientific and technical disciplines – more than 1600 Elsevier publications in all.

"In our discussions with law firms, we found that Elsevier journals are key components of conducting prior art research, as well as patent litigation,” said Francisco Irizarry, director, LexisNexis.  “Now, imagine the power of being able to conduct prior art research through Elsevier materials, review legislative and regulatory frameworks, find relevant case decisions, and receive guidance from leading treatises such as Chisum on Patents, all through the same research platform. That’s the value LexisNexis and Elsevier together bring to legal practitioners and researchers.”

LexisNexis suite of Elsevier content is just one of the many offerings of LexisNexis® Total Practice Solutions, the company’s overarching portfolio of solutions to help lawyers and law firms succeed in the business and practice of law. LexisNexis offerings are designed for the way legal professionals work, in all of the areas essential to their success, including Client Development, Research Solutions, Practice Management and Litigation Services.
