Immigration and Protection Law

We are pleased to have released in full the title Immigration and Protection Law Reissue 1 in The Laws of New Zealand.  The title has been completely revised and rewritten by a team of five authors who are all members of the New Zealand Immigration and Protection Tribunal, including Judge Martin Treadwell, who is Chair of the Tribunal.  The reissue of this title will be an essential resource and valuable tool to legal practitioners working in that area of law, and to anyone wishing to have an authoritative overview of immigration law in New Zealand and an understanding of the legal and procedural framework that underpins it.

Besides covering important topics such as visas, arrivals and departures, refugee and protected person status, deportation, detention and monitoring, and offences and penalties, under domestic legislation and international instruments that apply, the title also offers essential coverage on procedural matters in the Immigration and Protection Tribunal, including appeals, as well as on classified information and related proceedings, concluding with an overview of the legal framework governing immigration adviser licensing in New Zealand.

The reissue is supported throughout by statutory references, and expertly curated case law, and also provides the reader with useful references to some of the information available in the public domain in New Zealand, where relevant.

We invite you to preview the free downloadable content, which offers a glimpse into the new content in Immigration and Protection Law Reissue 1 from The Laws of New Zealand.
